Air protection
Fish lead a scary existence. If anybody contaminates their water, they would literally be unable to breathe without taking in life-threatening poisons.
But actually, we aren’t much different from fish.
If we work in confined or hazardous conditions, the very air we breathe could be dangerous!
Don’t hold your breath: we’re gonna look at the past and present ways humans have defended from “airborne assaults.”
Old: Plague Doctor Mask
Also known as “that creepy bird mask worn by men in black cloaks”, the plague doctor mask was worn to keep doctors healthy in the disease-riddled streets. The beak was stuffed with sweet-smelling herbs which were believed to ward off miasma: poisonous air that infected people with the plague.
Well, it did guard against disease! But not because it kept out miasma. The sweet smells didn’t defend against the germs that were really responsible for the plague. However, the mask’s strong seal did, keeping away airborne germs. Too bad the mask also made you look like a serial killer
New: The Modern Respirator
1. BLS ZeR0 SERIES
BLS DISPOSABLE P3 MASK
The BLS Zer0 Series Disposable P3 Mask
comes souped-up with multiple features that make us believe it's an N95 mask in a superhero suit
- outstanding in terms of comfort, function and durability.
While it exceeds the respiratory protection level of a P3 mask, it also achieves a lower breathing resistance than that of a P1 mask.
2. BLS Flickit SERIES
When the plague ended in the early 1350s, the eerie bird mask trend ended along with it.
We're thankful for that, otherwise it wouldn't have made way for this
BLS Flickit Series disposable mask today.
Look how it folds into a neat little square which you can carry around with you!
Gone are the days of pocket handkerchiefs, pocket masks are the next big thing.
3. BLS 4000 SERIES
REUSABLE HALF FACE MASK
Ah, zero waste living...a hot topic of late. Speaking of recycling and reusing, we'll start here first with the BLS 4000 Series Reusable Half Mask
Unlike disposable masks which are binned, all you have to do is dismantle this one, clean it and voila! It's ready to safeguard you against airborne toxins and impurities over and over again. Saving people feels better when it comes with saving the earth too.
4. BLS 5000 SERIES
You'll never bump into pillars again with these scratch-resistant anti-fog visors, optical class 1 (EN 166). The weight of the respirator is distributed evenly across 6 harness points on the mask, which provides for a comfortable fit that's readily adjustable.
The soft and durable face seal helps to keep in the good air while ensuring your eyes remain protected.
