Disposable surgical masks DO NOT defend against the hazel
Those common rectangular face masks used mainly in hospitals? Yeah, those aren’t gonna defend you against the haze. Surgical masks are mainly designed to prevent you from contaminating the atmosphere! They aren’t effective in filtering airborne particles away FROM you.
Why are surgical masks blue on one side and white on the other?
The blue side repels liquids, so it’s worn on the outside to keep your bodily fluids in. The white side absorbs your exhaled fluids, making the mask more comfortable to wear. Don’t get it mixed up! Wearing the blue side inside reduces the effectiveness of the mask and it’s super uncomfortable.
You need a mask for these everyday tasks!
Anytime there are harmful droplets in the air, better use a mask. Spray-painting a wall indoors? You need a powered respirator for that. Spraying pesticides in your garden? Get a comfortable dust mask. Before you do anything that involves particles you shouldn’t breathe in, check to see what kinds of respirator you need!

Fit is super important!
Make sure the respirator’s seal is secure! No point getting the best respirator when a loose seal lets in the harmful particles anyway. Always read the instructions on the packaging to learn how each respirator should be worn.
Reusable respirators can save you money!
Sure, reusable powered respirators and supplied air respirators cost more than disposable ones. But they offer great protection and can be used again and again! If you’re working with a small team of workers, getting them personal respirators is a great option.
