Here’s the thing: people can be clumsy sometimes.

It’s entirely possible for us to fall on perfectly level ground. So when the floor is cluttered or otherwise unsafe, the chances of a bad fall increase.

Common household objects may seem harmless just lying on the ground. But all it takes is a simple adjustment of our lives and all of that is overcome.

Here’s a quick list of floor hazards we can immediately spot, simply by looking down:

Wires

In an increasingly connected world, cables have become a feature of everyday living.

These essential items connect devices with their lifeblood: electricity.

Unfortunately, they also serve as unexpected tripping hazards. Keep your floors clear of wires and cables!

If they are absolutely necessary, try taping them to the ground to prevent them from moving.

Uneven Floors

We can level up our floor safety by drawing attention to floors that AREN’T level.

Point them out with reflective tape, or put up warning signs at places where your floor isn’t the same height.

Entrances

Beware the area between two worlds: the boundary that separates outside from inside.

Don’t let workers bring mud and viruses into your workplace! Guard those entrances with mats that can trap viruses and dirt.

Moisture

Those who disregard moisture on the ground are definitely wet behind the ears!

Workers are at much lower risk of slipping if the floor isn’t slippery. Simply look out for wet ground and make sure someone dries it!

If moisture is inevitable due to condensation or piping, keep absorbents and wipes in an accessible place.
