| ANSI Z87.1-2003 was published in August 2003 and establishes performance criteria and testing requirements for devices used to protect the eyes and face from injuries from impact, chemical exposure and non-ionizing radiation in workplaces and schools. The new standard replaces Z87.1-1989. The standard covers all types of protective devices, including safety glasses/ eyewear, safety goggles, safety face shields, welding helmets and hand shields and full face piece respirators.
